The Ultimate Small Business Plan
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere, having a great idea for your business is only part of the equation.
Because if you really want to succeed and join the top 5% of profitable small businesses, you need a small business plan. At it’s very least, your small business plan must include your detailed marketing strategy.
I can’t stress this enough: great marketing can make even the most mundane business selling the most sedentary products successful; but with bad marketing even the best products and services won’t save you.
And the key to great marketing is to have a plan for it. Marketing should not be a random series of events triggered off when an advertising rep knocks on your door, or when you realise you could do with a little extra business. In the extreme, if you spot a market you can write your small business plan and then go out and find the products to serve that market!
While your small business plan can and should change to accommodate changes in your situation, current events, and so on, you should never be in a position where you are sitting there twiddling your thumbs wondering what bit of marketing to do next. There’s no excuse for it -- and especially not the excuse you’re too busy. The time to be marketing is when you’re busy not only when you’re quiet.
So, take a look around the rest of this site, and get into some of the detailed business success strategies you can put into your small business plan and get working for you right now and have them making money for you by tomorrow!
